The new 911 GT3 RS finally appeared at the 2015 Geneva Motor show, and the vehicle represents a great improvement comparing to the GT3 when it comes to the performance and the reduction of weight. The regular GT3 was great, but GT3 RS is perfect. This long anticipated, race-ready but at the same time road legal car arrives more powerful than ever with the most sizeable NA engine in terms of a 911 segment. We have gathered a great number of juicy details about the monster that will soon draw the attention on the roads. What else is new in 2016 Porche 911 GT3 RS, we will soon find out.
The heart of the vehicle which hides under the short rear deck is the biggest, extremely efficient and the most sophisticated 4.0L flat-6 we’ve ever seen in 911 ranges. The engine that powers new 2016 Porche 911 GT3 RS is naturally-aspirated and produces up to 493 hp, while the previous GT3 RS produced 468 horsepower. It develops 339 lb-ft of peak torque. Mated with specially designed, paddle-shiftable seven-speed PDK variant dual-clutch gearbox, it can accelerate from naught to sixty miles per hour in just 3.1 seconds. The PDK also has a so called racing style, but the new model also features Pit speed button.
2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS Exterior
The first thing that must be mentioned is that the new model is lighter than the previous one thanks to the usage of high-quality materials, like the roof that is made out of magnesium and the trunk that is made out of carbon fiber. Because of all this, 2016 Porsche 911 GT3 RS is 22 pounds lighter than the vehicle it replaces. Unlike its predecessor, the vehicle boasts a lower center of gravity. GTR has an aggressive and wide body kit, and this suggests that the designers had racing performance in their minds. Comparing to its predecessor, the revised model will have a slightly thinner front bumper. It features LED headlights, taillights and strips. The headlight and the front wheel give the vehicle a more powerful appearance. Basically, the model which soon arrives will have a typical Porche appearance, only with harder edge. The front fascia of the vehicle features big air intakes. An indent on the hood somehow reminds us of the styling of the previous 911s.
New 911 GT3 RS Interior design
The interior of the newcomer is characterized by a lot of leather with Alcantra details. When you step inside the cabin, you will see a driver-focused cock-pit. From the point view of the driver, you will be able to spot a great three-spoke steering wheel with paddle shifters. The notable features in the new model are the complete bucket seats that appear to be derived from 918 Spyder car. The vehicle also features a PCM great infotainment system and sizeable touchscreen.
