Audi introduced its R8 design study back in 2005 and the first model saw the light of day a year later – at the Paris Auto Show, on 30th of September, 2006, and on that day, a legend was born. It shared the name with its rolemodel, the Audi Le Mans Quattro concept, which was designed by Frank Lamberty and Julian Hoenig, and the platform with Lamborghini Gallardo. The 2016 Audi R8 is the car you would want to see on the street and definitely own one, if you can, as its exclusiveness and style can be matched only by much, much expensive models.
2016 Audi R8 engine specs
The new R8 shares the same platform as the Lamborghini Huracan, an updated platform of the previous model – Modular Sport System, or MSS for short. Due to Audi’s clever implementation of lightweight materials, the new R8 is around 50 kg lighter than the predecessor, with a lower center of gravity. When the engines are concerned, the new R8 comes in two variants – the naturally aspirated 5.2 liter V10, delivering 540 horsepower, which is an upgrade from a 525 of the previous model, and the V10 Plus, delivering an astounding 610 horsepower. The seven speed dual clutch automatic transmission system is mandatory for both engine variants.
Based on the leaked photos, the fans sure have something to look forward to. One of the R8’s signature marks were the side blades, located just under the headlights. On the 2016 Audi R8, that element is changed, for the better or worse, time and fans will tell.
Headlights and complement LED lamps underwent a facelift as well. They are now sharper and a bit smaller. Daylight LED lamps now follow the top line of the headlights, with an edgy far end, resembling scowling eyebrows. Front grille is changed as well. Round edges are now gone, leaving the sharp edges dominate. The back of the car is also marginally changed. Horizontal blades on air-extractors, below the tail lights were also changed, just like at the front. Taillights are a bit narrower, with LED lamps shaped into a back of an arrow.
The interior looks amazing. The new R8’s central LCD display is shifted to the front of the driver. Steering wheel is a bit smaller than the previous model, but kept more or less the same design, with a slightly changed button layout, for the sake of convenience. The console metal manual shifting stick is replaced with a new shifter, which looks like a fighter jet thrust lever. Other elements of the interior, such as the air-conditioning vents were slightly restyled not to disrupt the elegance of the rest of the interior.
New 2016 R8 release date and price
The price is not verified formally, but is gotten ready for to be $184,000 as the beginning price. There is definitely nothing to reconsider as this automobile possesses all the most effective innovation and also functions. The 2016 Audi R8 V10 Plus is a suitable option for race course. It will take place the sale in the middle of the 2015.
While the engines and interior were not radically changed, but slightly improved to some extent, some of the fans won’t like the lack of R8’s signature blades. Although the new Audi R8 2016 has never been more powerful, some things shouldn’t be changed.
